Modelling and optimisation of chitosan anchored titanium dioxide nano-adsorbent for dairy industry effluent treatment

Abstract The present study emphasised the efficiency of chitosan anchored titanium dioxide nano-adsorbent on dairy industry effluent treatment. Chitosan was synthesised by using chemical precipitation method and characterised for its particle size, surface morphology texture. A four-factor-three-level Box–Behnken design along with response methodology used to optimise adsorption process parameters. Linear, two factor interaction, quadratic cubic model techniques were demonstrate influence each parameter their interaction effects responses. models derived from experimental data predict maximum per cent reduction biological oxygen demand (BOD) (COD). optimised treatment combination in BOD (90.48%) COD (82.10%) found be initial concentration 100 mg L −1 , pH 7, dosage 1.25 contact time min.
